CHAPTER SIX

JORDON WASN’T SURE what Kelsey’s actions meant. He knew what he wished they indicated but he’d misread her a number of times and he sure hoped he wasn’t doing so one more time. To begin with, he’d seen her as nothing but a teasing gadfly but Kelsey had proved there was more to her than a good-time girl. Maybe she just wanted a friend to see her through a tough time.

His arms tightened, pulling her closer then eased long enough to let her move past him through the door into the house. She brushed his chest as she went by, making his desire grow. Plenty of women had touched him on purpose and his body had never gone on the high alert he was experiencing now. Hardy followed close behind. Even his dog seemed enamored by Kelsey.

Jordon stepped inside. The living room was dark except for one small reading lamp he’d turned on when he’d woken.

Kelsey stood at the end of the kitchen bar, facing him. Hardy sat at her feet. Her gaze locked with his. What was going on? His emotions were like being on a swing bridge, unsteady and unfamiliar, fearing the next step might be the wrong one.

Jordon raised a brow then turned to close the door. He needed a few seconds to gain control. He felt more than heard Kelsey step nearer. Returning round, his breath caught as she stretched upward on her toes and kissed him. It was too brief, but it was the sweetest kiss he’d ever received. He wanted more. More kisses. More of her.

“What was that for?” His voice was raspy leaving him embarrassed. He cleared his throat.

“Really? Aren’t you a little old not to know when a woman wants you?”

Her eyes held a dark come-hither look. “With you it’s hard to tell. You run hot and cold too often.”

She stepped closer, pressing her body against his. “I’m feeling rather hot at the moment.”

Jordon growled low in his throat. He’d been approached by women before but this blatant come-on from Kelsey was the sexist. “Hey, I’m not complaining here. And I’m no superhero who’s going to turn a beautiful sexy woman down, but what has changed your mind about me?”

“You were my hero yesterday.” Her breath was so soft against his lips that he almost missed what she said. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his mouth down to meet hers.

He groaned and circled her waist, bringing her tightly against him.

Her tongue teased his lips until he opened for her. She made a suggestive rub against him, making his desire soar and his manhood grow rigid. Her tongue met his, moved away and returned to caress his another time.

Had he ever been this turned on? He took control of the kiss, taking it deeper. She pulled away. He wanted to complain, demand she return to kissing him, but he got caught up in the movement of her lips across his cheek to his ear. She took his earlobe between her teeth and nipped, then tugged, making low cooing sounds.
